解説

カーラとサムは、2001年のソロ･デビュー以来所属していたレコード会社を離れ、 2008年にチャーコール･レコードという独自のレーベルを立ち上げて新たな活動を開始した。しかし、アルバムの制作に関しては独自に行えるとしても一般流通、つまりCDの販売経路をどう確保するか、という問題が残る。
プロパー･ミュージックはロンドンに本拠を置くレコード会社で、主にオールディーズ系の廉価なコンピレーション･アルバムの制作･販売をしていた。
同社が新事業として開始したのが、インディーズ系のアーティストが独自に制作するアルバムを英国内のショップに供給するという卸事業。
既にフォーク系のアーティストの多くがこのシステムを利用している。

本作はそんなフォーク系のアーティストの（当時の）最新作から、あるいは未発表の音源を集めたコンピレーションで、廉価（約400円）な上に、注目度の高いアーティストがよく網羅されている。
