このアルバムによる収益は全て自然保護団体 WWF とアイルランドの アルスター・ワイルドライフに贈られるというチャリティー・アルバム。 ワイルドライフ <Wildlife> は絶滅の危機に瀕する野生生物の調査と 保護活動を行う自然保護NGO。 ジャケットの鳥はペンギンによく似ているが、1844年に乱獲によって 絶滅したオオウミガラス <Great auk> という海鳥の一種。 寄せられた曲は全て本盤のための新録または未発表曲で、フォーク、 ロック、ジャズ、ブルースなど幅広いジャンルから 21 曲収録。 環境保護をテーマにした曲もいくつかある。 Cara はスコットランドの男性シンガーである Dougie McLean の曲を カバーしたものを提供している。なかなかに可愛らしいラブソングで、 メロディーも親しみやすい。ただ間奏も山場もなくアッサリ終わるので 少々物足りなさが残ってしまうのが残念。 他での聴き所はヤン・アッカーマンのギター・プレイを堪能できる 09、 イアン・アンダーソンのフルートが美しい 18。 本盤の購入は日本からですと、Pipe Records Online Store から カードで注文する方法が便利です。カタログの International 盤を 選択し、必要事項をローマ字で記入し送信します。 UK cheque をアルスター・ワイルドライフに郵送するという方法も オフィシャル・サイトに記載がありますが、 時間がかかると思います。 |
